[Bobby was just taking care of some administrative matters in his office, as he likes to do when his working day reaches its end. Lithia's entry snaps him right out of that, though, and he looks up with a pleasant smile. With not much of a need for having to fake emotional responses lately, the apathy damage to the area surrounding his desk is minimal at the moment.]
Ah, Miss Spodumene. Of course! [He gestures to the chair across from him.] Please, have a seat.
[Lithia will sit down with a graceful motion. Her smile goes away since she has to speak now on serious and sad things. She doesn't look sad, though.]
Thank you for your time. I wish I had something more pleasant to speak on, but I feel you should be aware of this. Unfortunately, I only have about a month to live now, possibly a bit more if Victor can figure out how to slow or reverse this. I know I shouldn't have kept this quiet, but I admit I was somewhat in denial back then that it would progress to this point so soon.
[Bobby's own expression goes from pleasant to serious, to outright shocked in a span of ten seconds. His jaw literally drops for a moment, then he fumbles his way through speech.]
You... Hah?! But... But that's terrible! I-I mean, of course it's terrible- I'm...- I'm so sorry!
[Yeah, she probably dropped the bomb a bit too soon, but it's not something that is easy to speak on so she figured best to just not beat around the bush and instead just come out and say it before she lost her nerve.]
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be so abrupt about it, but there is nothing I can say beyond the truth.
[He looks absolutely stumped for about seven more seconds, then he pulls himself together to some degree. What washes over his face instead is a look of solemn grief.]
I'm sorry. I suppose the knowledge that death isn't permanent in this place isn't much consolation at this point. ...If you don't mind me asking, what exactly is it that you're- um- suffering from?
[She considers for a moment how to explain it. True, Bobby knows Kor and probably has heard the term Spiria then since Kor is a bit more forgetful about using a term that people will understand more easily. She of course has no suspicion that Bobby and Creed had known each other since such a person would be the last person Creed would want to be around with his past.]
My world doesn't give it a name other than what the end result is, complete calcification of the body. That means I'll turn into a statue due to damage done to my Spiria in the past. No cure exists in my world, but I have sought out a doctor here to see if anything can be done.
[Of course she definitely isn't aware that between her mention of her age being over two thousand years old and the illness being the same as Creed's and being from the same world that she just hinted towards the fact that her and Creed probably know each other.]
[While Bobby doesn't quite piece together that Lithia might know Creed, he does piece together that this illness could very well be the same one. if it is the same, that's not promising. Creed died from it, not once but twice.]
Ah... That's... I've heard of that before. Someone else from your world suffered from the same sort of thing. Did Mr. Meteor tell you about that?
I'd rather not go any further than the fact that yes it is the same thing. Creed and I are not on good terms and I would prefer not to speak much on it. I'd rather not speak ill of the dead or taint your memories of him.
[He's silent for a moment, processing those implications.]
Ah, well... Whether you were on good terms or not doesn't really matter, I think. What's more important is that some people tried to find a cure for Mr. Graphite as well, if I remember correctly.
I'm sorry, but I would have difficulty trusting those who aided him. I've sought out a doctor here who couldn't have known Creed since he arrived the month after I did.
[Mmh, he's not sure if he should blame Lithia for that mindset or convince her to give other doctors the benefit of the doubt. They all gave Creed the benefit of the doubt, after all, and any information gained on his condition back then might help her now. Then again, maybe her new doctor has fresh insight and better chances, as a result.]
Ah... Then... I hope he'll figure out a way to cure you, or at least slow the process down significantly. If there's anything at all we can do to help, you just let us know.
[None of them had to deal with multiple attempts to their life by him and his allies. The most benefit of the doubt she can give right now is to just say they are not on good terms. That and she has no idea if Creed even would have actually let anyone do anything. He's stubborn and would only ask for help if it was something he couldn't do himself. Also, she obviously was in a bit better health to begin with since she did last longer. She's already been here five months, after all.]
I hope so, but I also don't blame him if he doesn't. It's something that even people who were capable of creating Kor's Soma couldn't figure out. I was able to make some adjustments so he can bring someone with him now though. That may be useful for other things as well.
[The notion that Kor can involve other people in his Spiria Links is both helpful for the Enforcers as a whole, but troublesome for him- Assuming this affects any Spiria Link and not just one made with Lithia. He's sure he's made it clear he didn't enjoy that particular instance of privacy breaching, but knowing Kor, the guy will jump right back in if there's another 'emotional emergency'. ..Well, he'll just have to make sure there won't be any more of those.]
Is that so? That's great! Do you think taking a closer look at your Spiria through linking could be the key to curing you?
[Of course Lithia knows nothing about that sort of stuff, but would also probably do something similar if there is a situation where the person's emotions could be a danger to themselves or others. It also shows Lithia has some interesting knowledge and skill to have figured that one out.]
It certainly cannot hurt to try it, even though I admit he probably should take someone along to see a more normal one first, though at least no one here is likely to have any xeroms causing problems at least. [Which does prompt a smile, because that's something that would have been very not fun to deal with if Creed had been his normal psycho self and had unleashed a bunch on the city.]
Monsters that devour Spirias and cause Despir. They are weapons that have caused numerous problems for people like Kor. Yet people still seem to think they have merit in being used to remove negative emotions.
Oh... They do! I mean, I've seen them in action. Back when Elios was attacking the city, a couple of those things were absorbing all the hate, if I remember correctly.
