[Bobby nodded idly, even as he turned to unlock the door to his office. It was better to talk while sitting in privacy, after all.]
That's right! Compared to what actual armies might go through, the Enforcers could be considered more small-scale. We usually just focus on handling local crime, be it through armed raids or through investigation and negotiation.
[Click! The door opened. Bobby stepped inside, then stood by the door as he waited for Hux to enter. There were two chairs before the desk, so the man was free to choose either one.]
Small-scale it may be, but important in keeping order in a city that consists of colorful personalities from different worlds. Galaxies, even.
[Hux stepped inside and took a seat on the chair to the left. He briefly glanced over Bobby's office, but he made sure that his focus was on the commander. He seemed like an easygoing type, but Hux figured that he held this position for a reason. Hux sure hoped so at least.]
[Bobby's office, for the most part, was clean and organized. All the paperwork was tidied away in its corresponding folders, not a speck of dirt to be found anywhere. Not even the awkward half-naked Bulat painting is there anymore. After one too many uncomfortable sideways glances, he'd decided to take it down after all.
The one thing still putting the 'off' in his office would be the lingering apathy damage. Over time it fixed itself, only to be replaced with fresh effects again. Pinprick holes in the desk, the lamp being a bit more droopy than it should be, items such as pens being drained of color... It's the little things.
Bobby took a seat behind the desk and reached for a sign-up sheet, smiling pleasantly.]
Oh, definitely! The Enforcers played a vital role before we even got here, but ever since Otherworlders started arriving, their job's become a lot more... challenging.
[It was probably a good thing that painting wasn't there anymore; Hux most likely would've just stood up and walked right out.
The damage scattered across his office didn't go unnoticed by him, but he didn't think they were too odd. He just added them up to the commander having bad days every so often, nothing too unusual in the grand scheme of things.]
It's expected. People here with a variety of abilities, some that could crush others in a mere instant. [Like Kylo Ren, that bastard. But at least he was an ally and someone Hux could still use while here. They needed to get along if they were to return to their galaxy and maybe kill a couple of individuals along the way...]
I imagine it's quite worrying to the 'normal' people out there.
[The 'normal' people, huh? When he first arrived, Bobby wouldn't have questioned a term like that at all. He was just like that, after all; a human being without abilities of a magical nature. He'd tried to learn, but even after months of being taught by an expert, he couldn't grasp magic. He couldn't even grasp Dunamis.
Still, more than a year in this place had taught him that people who wielded magic or something similar were just as 'normal' as the rest of them. Rather, they did things that were perfectly normal to them and their own world.]
It was especially worrying at first, yes. Some of the natives are starting to get used to it now, as are most of the fellow Otherworlders. It's a shame, really, that every so often an incident involving those sort of abilities will occur. If everyone used their powers only for justice, we'd have gained everyone's trust in no time at all.
Quite honestly, I'd be surprised if there wasn't some incident involving an individual with unique abilities occurring every so often. People are chaotic and most don't discipline themselves. It's why the Enforcers are here to make sure no harm comes to any innocents and build trust between the various groups.
[Hux normally didn't care about the trust from random strangers, but he was still attempting to gather allies here. There was no First Order to fall back on after all.]
I wouldn't have applied for this position otherwise.
[This interview seemed to be going well. Good. He was fully confident that he could get accepted into this organization.]
I'm willing to work long hours, to put aside any of my personal matters if duty calls. If you need me to cite any specific examples in order to expand on my credentials, I'd be happy to as well.
[Bobby has the most amazing interview track record in that he's never actually turned anyone down. As far as he knows, it's the same for Edea. Anyone who applies for the job and gets an interview will inevitably proceed on to be judged by Sergei.]
I'd like that, actually! What sort of field work are you accustomed to, exactly?
[Well, simulations completely counted as field work. But there was some things that he's done for the Order that weren't just programs.]
Mostly securing resources for my organization, investigating various planets and negotiating with the people so we all could benefit from the exchange. Other times we scouted areas not traversed by anyone, recording data for people to use in future endeavors.
[Illegal arm exchange... finding a planet to build his superweapon at. All of it was important field work.]
I've participated in combat as well, mostly leading other soldiers in the field.
[Bobby hastily started jotting a few things down on his paper. This sort of experience could come in useful later, so they definitely needed to keep it on file.]
That's an amazing track record...! How exactly did you travel between planets?
Large ones, big enough to carry entire cities. It was needed to transport large materials at once in addition to testing my ability to command large amounts of people for specific missions.
[Hux couldn't stop from preening a bit at Bobby's words. He was incredibly proud of the Finalizer and his command over it. It was a Star Destroyer far more powerful the the old Imperial ships.]
I was. As you might imagine, I had a lot of responsibility placed on my shoulders.
[He decided to not mention the fact that it was also Ren's ship. He was irrelevant anyway.]
No kidding! That's like being mayor of a city and commander for its army at the same time! I have to say, I'm honored that someone with your experience would join a group like ours.
[Granted, if otherworldly experience counted, Bobby would not be a commander at all. In fact, likely the only reason he is commander is that he 'got there first', so to speak, and campaigned for the position when very little was known about the sort of role Otherworlders could even play within the Enforcers.]
[He wondered if Dameron might join the Enforcers at some point. It could give him some difficulty later on... he'd have to think about it after this. If death wasn't actually temporary here, then the problem could be easily solved.]
